After the success major Chinese brands like Infinix and Ziox Mobile have seen in India, another brand is looking to make its mark in the Indian market – Comio. Comio has launched three budget phones in the market named C1, S1 and the P1. These devices pack decent specifications for the price tag they carry and feature nothing out of the ordinary. Let’s have a closer look at what these devices have to offer and at what asking price.
The Comio C1
The Comio C1 is the cheapest among its siblings and will cost you Rs. 5,999. In terms of design, the smartphone sports an all metal design and will be available in Mellow Gold and Space Black colour variants. The Comio C1 also features a 5-inch HD display rocking a resolution of 720×1280 pixels which brings it in a tight competition with Xiaomi’s Redmi 4A. Under the hood, the offering from Comio features a 64-bit MediaTek quad-core processor clocking at 1.3GHz paired with 1GB of RAM. In the camera department, there aren’t any surprises with the phone integrating an 8-megapixel autofocus sensor with LED flash support at the rear and a 5-megapixel sensor on the front. Similar to its Xiaomi counterpart, the device misses out on a fingerprint sensor and its users will have to punch in a security code or pattern to unlock it.
The Comio S1
The S1 occupies the mid range slot, both in terms of price and specifications alike at an asking cost of Rs. 8,999. In terms of look and feel, the smartphone sports an all metal body design and will be available in Royal Black and Sunrise Gold colour variants. The S1, similar to its younger sibling also features an HD display measuring at 5.2-inches diagonally. To put a figure to this fact, the phone will display content at 720 x 1280 pixels placing it against Xiaomi’s Redmi 4. Similar to the Redmi 4, the S1 also sports a fingerprint scanner. The fingerprint scanner is placed on the front and doubles up as a home button as well. For photography enthusiasts, the device packs a 13-megapixel autofocus sensor with LED flash support as the primary camera and an 8-megapixel selfie camera on the front. Under its hood, the smartphone features a quad-core MediaTek processor bearing a 64-bit architecture.
The Comio P1
The P1 is the flagship offering from the company and still, falls under the budget phone category at Rs. 9,999. Similar to its other siblings, the P1 also sports a full metal build and a sleek look. Contrary to its younger siblings, the P1 does feature a fingerprint sensor but it is located at the rear. The phone will be available in Metal Grey and Sunrise Gold colour options. Unfortunately, despite being the flagship device, the Comio P1 also features a 5.5-inch HD display sporting a resolution of 720 x 1280 pixels which could have been better at a FullHD resolution. On the optics front, the smartphone includes a 13-megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash on the rear and an 8-megapixel front facing selfie camera, again, nothing out of the ordinary. In terms of its processing power, the P1 sports a quad-core MediaTek processor bearing a 64-bit architecture that clocks at 1.3Ghz.
The stand apart feature that the P1 possesses distinguishing it from the other two and justifying its flagship title is its massive battery. The Comio P1 rocks a 5000mAh battery pack that the brand claims should get 30 days of standby time and close to 24 hours of talk time. This is pretty impressive, however, it is still unbeknownst to us whether this phone supports fast charging capabilities and if it doesn’t this could be a deal breaker.
All of the devices are expected to ship with the latest operating system offered by Google – Android Nougat 7.1 and will be 4G VoLTE compatible in India. It is worth mentioning that the company has decided to launch all devices in India aiming to capture a spot in the mid range segment and as the company’s CEO and Director in India quoted, “Entering as a new player in the smartphone market, consumer satisfaction and delivering premium quality products are our main strategies to fuel the establishment of COMIO in India. Our clear vision is to be the leader in the mid-segment smartphone category in India and create a strong offline brand. Over the course of the first year, we will build a strong foundation for the brand based on the three strategic pillars- innovation, partnership and great people. We are in India for the long run and will contribute to the nations ‘Make in India’ initiative.”
