Five Smartphones That You Should Consider if the iPhone 7 Does Not Interest You

The Apple iPhone 7 is expected tonight. No matter what Apple announces, the iPhone 7 will be the yardstick against which all the smartphones will be measured up against. However, if you have an irrational dislike towards anything and everything Apple or just perhaps prefer Android over Apple anyway thanks to the freedom and customisation on offer, you already have a great array of smartphones to pick up.

Here is a list of five smartphones, flagship material, that will remain good, even after the launch of the iPhone 7. If you are looking to get a top of the line Android smartphone today, these phones have got to be considered.

Samsung Galaxy S7/ Edge

Galaxy S7

The Samsung Galaxy S7 or the S7 Edge are a good as Android phones as you can pick up. You can make a choice between going with an edged display versus not going with one depending upon how ergonomic you find the curved panels. Both phones are largely the exact replica of each other, with the S7 Edge featuring a slightly bigger display, curved edges and a slightly bigger battery. Both the devices, though, to their credit are supremely fast, feature a wonderful 12MP rear camera, are powered by Exynos 8890 chipset, have water resistant rating and have beautiful metal and glass construct. Both the S7 and S7 Edge come with Hybrid SIM cards, so you can always pop in that secondary SIM card if you happen to travel a lot.

OnePlus 3

OnePlus 3

If you are looking to not spend a bomb on your next phone, the OnePlus 3 is the best pusedo flagship phone you can pick up today. While OnePlus has cut some corners as the phone has only a 1080P display and not a 2K panel and a rather average 3000 mAh battery, it has packed in a ton of power in the phone too. You have the Snapdragon 820 running the show with a mammoth 6GB of RAM. There is 64GB storage out of the box, though this cannot be expanded. The unibody metal construction of the device only adds more personality to the phone and makes it look way more premium than what anyone at this price should expect. OnePlus 3 comes with a Dash Charger that promises to charge your phone from 0 to 60% in about 30 minutes, making it one of the fastest devices to charge. Even though not excellent, the cameras on the device are very decent and the fingerprint scanner is really snappy.

LG G5

It has been rumored that the premium iPhone, most likely to be the iPhone 7 Plus will come with a Dual Camera setup. Several phones in the past have come with a similar arrangement, but the most recent flagship device was the LG G5. LG uses the dual camera lens setup to help you capture a wider field view of shots and thereby giving you a nicer image. Not just the dual camera setup, the G5 is also a modular smartphone. So you can basically replace the battery panel at the bottom of the phone with a DAC lead audio system allowing you enjoy music more, an extended battery pack or even a physical camera shutter setup thanks to the LG Cam Plus. The phone has powerful internals, including Snapdragon 820 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 32GB internal storage with Dual SIM support.

HTC 10

HTC 10

If there is any OEM that can really match Apple when it comes to building quality it is HTC. In fact, the iPhone 6 bears a lot of resemblance to the older HTC M8 and M9, and then HTC decided to take a xerox of the iPhone 6 in the case of the HTC One A9s. Either way, HTC has generally done a good job on the design front and the HTC 10 is no different. It looks very much like the iPhone 6 with 2.5D glass and a fingerprint scanner on the front. With rumors afloat that the iPhone 7 will not be very different from the iPhone 6 at least as far as the basic design goes, the HTC 10 could be a solid alternative. The phone is really snappy, comes with the latest Snapdragon 820 out of the box and packs a vastly improved 12MP camera with HTC finally ending the Ultrapixel experiment.

Sony Xperia Z5 Premium

Apple has always projected the iPhone as your go-to device when it comes to entertainment and fun. Thanks a good camera and rich music repo thanks to Apple Music, you can be sure the iPhone 7 will have multimedia at the heart of it. But what if you want the screen on your phone to be absolutely amazing? This is where the Z5 Premium comes handy. The phone comes with a 4K display, which is the highest resolution known on any smartphone so far. There is also dual front firing stereo speakers, which would make the phone a fantastic portable theatre to watch video content. It may not be running the latest Snapdragon 820 chipset, but with water resistance, Snapdragon 810, and 3GB of RAM on board the Z5 Premium remains a very solid choice.

So, as we wait for the iPhone 7 to come, if you cannot wait and want to give in to the temptation of buying a brand new Android phone, right on the day the enemy clan brings their best shot out, aforementioned devices will make sure that you do not feel left out, even when the iPhone 7 is out.
