In the most recent briefing that we attended of Gionee smartphone, where they announced the launch of the Gionee S6s, Gionee admitted that unless they see tremendous value in a peripheral gadget, they will continue to sell only smartphones. One month down the line, it looks like Gionee has found value in the VR market as it has launched its first smartphone with a smart VR Integration.
The Gionee S6 Pro, comes with Gionee VR app that basically is the one hub stop for VR content, including videos and games. Gionee is going to offer the VR Heeadset sparately from the device, and will cost Rs 2,499.
Talking about the Gionee S6 Pro, the device comes with a 5.5 inch 1080P display with a metallic unibody design. The phone in certain ways looks similar to a ton of candybar smartphones that we see these days with the screen dominating the front with a home button, while the back houses the cameras and the OEM branding. There is 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage on the S6 Pro, and the phone is powered by a Helio P10 MT6755M processor. On the camera side of things, you are looking at a 13MP rear camera and an 8MP front facing camera.
Fingerprint scanner on the device is built on the Home Button, unlike the Gionee S6s where the scanner was on the back of the device. The battery on the device is 3130 mAh and there is support for VoLTE among the other usual connectivity options. Just like the S6s, the S6 Pro will come with Android Marshmallow out of the box with Amigo 3.2 on top. The device will be available in Gold and Rose Gold colour and will go on sale across retail store from October 1st onwards.
