China-based tech company Huawei has finally unveiled its much-awaited flagship phone — The Huawei Mate 9, at an event in Germany. The company’s latest high-end smartphone is basically the successor to its last year’s Mate 8. Earlier, there were several reports confirming the arrival of Huawei Mate 9. The phone’s display is 5.9-inch in size while featuring 1920 x 1080 pixels Full HD resolution. The display is further covered by 2.5D glass on top. Other than that, it features an aluminum unibody design. Meaning, you will have no direct access to its internals. Powering this Huawei flagship is a 2.4GHz Hisilicon Kirin 960 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and Mali-G71 GPU for graphics.
It is based on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with Emotion UI 5.0 running on top. It also comes with a support for Google’s Daydream VR platform. It houses a dual-camera setup on the back with one being a 12-megapixel colour sensor (RGB) and another being a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor. For better understanding, we can output it this way: The RGB sensor focuses the colour accuracy whereas the monochrome (black and white) sensor focuses details. Combining together they both produce an excellent output. It also has an 8-megapixel selfie camera.
There is a fingerprint scanner on the back, which is placed right below the camera module. On the storage front, the Huawei Mate 9 delivers 64GB internal storage which is expandable up to 256GB via microSD card. This is a dual-SIM phone with one nano-SIM slot and one hybrid nano-SIM slot. In terms of connectivity, it features all the standard options such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and NFC. At last, it packs in a huge 4000mAh battery with fast charging support.
Talking of availability, the Huawei Mate 9 comes in Black, Moonlight Silver, Space Gray, Mocha Brown, Champagne Gold, and Ceramic White colour options. Priced at 699 Euros (approximately Rs 51,700), this device will be available in countries such as China, Japan, Germany, Malaysia, Kuwait, France, Poland, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Italy, Spain, and the United Arab Emirates.
