Kodak Ektra, A Smartphone From Kodak Launched In India At Rs 19,990

Kodak, a name of the brand which once roared in the streets of photography. Well, ever the since the era of digital photography arrived, and finally, the smartphone photography hammered the final nail in the coffin.

Well, the hopes are still alive. The company is still trying to present itself in the consumer technology product market. Last year at CES, the company launched its first smartphone – Kodak IM5. It was marketed as an easy-to-use photography device. In October last year, the company unveiled its second smartphone – Kodak Ektra. Now, the Kodak Ektra has finally arrived in the Indian market carrying a price tag of Rs 19,990. Similar to its predecessor, the Kodak Ektra is also manufactured by Bullitt Group. The smartphone will be available for purchase exclusively via Flipkart starting tomorrow i.e., 18th July 2017.

To justify the brand name, the Kodak Ektra has to come with top-notch camera specs. It features a 21-megapixel primary camera with an aperture size of f/2.0, OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), PDAF (Phase Detection Auto Focus), and HDR Imaging. Furthermore, the rear camera is also accompanied with dual-tone LED flash and supports 4K video recording. Up front, it sports a 13-megapixel shooter for clicking selfies. The phone also houses a dedicated shutter button with horizontal two step shutter release. The default camera app comes with several modes such as HDR, Landscape, Portrait, Macro, Sport, Night-time, Panorama and Bokeh. There’s also a manual mode available for the users who like to play with shutter speed and ISO. To switch between multiple modes, the camera app features an intuitive Touchscreen DSLR Dial with haptic touch.

Design-wise, the Kodak Ektra comes with a textured finish and steel-rimmed lens which further adds to its looks. Talking about other specs, the Kodak Ektra puts on a 5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels. Additionally, there’s also Corning Gorilla Glass Screen protection. Under the hood, it is powered by a deca-core MediaTek X20 processor for the monster performance. For multitasking, the phone features 3GB of RAM and gets 32GB of internal storage. One can also extend the storage by a MicroSD card. Powering all, the phone packs in a 3,000mAh battery backed by fast charging with a USB Type-C port.

For connectivity, the Kodak Ektra gets all the standard features such as Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual band), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS/Glonass, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system.
