India’s biggest home grown smartphone maker Micromax has launched a new smartphone under its Canvas lineup dubbed as Micromax Canvas 1. The phone comes in a gorgeous matte black and chrome black colour options and carries a price tag of just Rs 6,999. It is available for purchase starting today through various retail stores across the nation. Additionally, the company is also offering 100 days replacement warranty for any hardware failure along with the 1-year device warranty.
Specs-wise, the Canvas 1 puts on a 5-inch HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Furthermore, the display also gets 2.5D curved glass on top. Inside are a quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor ticking at 1.3GHz. Accompanying the chipset, the phone gets 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage.
On the camera front, the Micromax Canvas 1 sports an 8-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and single-LED flash. Up front, it flaunts a 5-megapixel fixed-focus snapper for capturing selfies. Powering all, there’s a 2,500mAh battery claimed to offer up to 7 hours of talk time and 180 hours of standby time.
The smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat and supports connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/A-GPS, Micro-USB port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It is Dual SIM phone and weighs 150 grams.
Looking at the specs and design, it seems to be a decent smartphone justifying its price tag. Apart from missing out on a fingerprint scanner, the phone does offer a good competition to the likes of Xiaomi and Motorola. We should also keep in mind that Micromax has its advantage of its robust distribution channels in the offline market.
