According to a new report, Nokia‘s most-awaited Android phones — allegedly Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 — will be powered by Snapdragon 660 processor. Neither this report nor retail names of Nokia’s upcoming handsets are confirmed at the time of writing this, though.
Interestingly, HMD Global’s long-rumoured Nokia 8 was previously tipped to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 835 processor. If all these reports are true, the company might have to launch a new phone — possibly Nokia 9 — powered by Snapdragon 835 chip. The Nokia 8, on the other hand, might come featuring Snapdragon 660 processor.
It must be noted at this point that Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 quad-core processor is yet to be official. From what is known so far, it will be based on Samsung‘s 14nm LLP process technology with two Cortex A73 and two Cortex A53 cores, ticking between 1.9GHz and 2.2GHz clock speeds. The production of the chip is expected to commence by Q2 2017.
Furthermore, both the Nokia 7 and Nokia 8 are said to feature a metal unibody design and thin bezels. They will also be backed by a fast charging support, fingerprint scanner, and bigger camera sensors. Since we are talking about camera, the design of the rear camera is said to be different from that of Nokia’s existing Nokia 3, 5, and 6.
Nokia 8, on the other hand, is also expected with Zeiss optics. Even though HMD Global has not confirmed anything so far, it is possible that Nokia 7 and 8 will launch sometime Q2 2017.
