Finally, Samsung confirmed the announcement of the most anticipated smartphone of the year – Galaxy S8. In a 15 second teaser at MWC Barcelona, Samsung finally revealed the launch date of its flagship device of this year. So, the Galaxy S8 will be launched in an event scheduled on 29th March in New York City.
In the teaser, the Korean tech giant shows the history of cellphones starting from the 1980s which then take you to the journey of cell phone designs decade-by-decade before finally resting the teaser on the year 2017. Samsung likes to call it “unbox your phone.”
Talking about the specs rumours, the Galaxy S8 is said to sport a 5.8-inch Quad HD+ display with a resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. There are also rumours claiming the display to be curved Super AMOLED with pressure sensitive panel. Similar to its predecessor Galaxy S7, this one will also come with two different chipsets – Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 or Octa-Core Exynos 9 Series 8895 processor. It will get 4GB RAM and 64GB internal memory which can be further expandable with a microSD card.
It will be a dual SIM phone and will run on Android 7.0 Nougat. Coming to camera front, the Galaxy S8 is likely to feature a 12MP Dual Pixel rear camera with LED flash and an 8MP front-facing camera for capturing selfies. The device is also supposed to house sensors such as heart rate sensor, fingerprint sensor, iris scanner, and barometer. The device will also get water and dust resistance with IP68 certification. It will pack in a 3000mAh battery with fast Charging both on wired and wireless (WPC and PMA) charging. Apart from these, the device will also get all standard connectivity features such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS with GLONASS, USB 2.0, and NFC.
