In a post on Oneplus Forums today by a staff member, the company announced that they will start rolling out the incremental update of OxygenOS 3.1.2 for the OnePlus X today. According to the company, this is the first official Marshmallow build for the OnePlus X. In the post, the company mentioned that this OTA will be incremental and will reach a small percentage of users today. They will begin a broader rollout in the coming days.
This release also includes launcher upgrades like new icon packs, Google search bar UI customization, and, a new design for the wallpaper picker. Chinese smartphone maker has also added its OnePlus Music Player and OnePlus Gallery for the first time in this update. They have also altered few settings including native app permissions and provided more customization options in Alert Slider settings.
With this update, Oneplus also has implemented October Android security patches and fixed the general bugs which uses were facing with the community build. The update though, comes with a known issue with Facebook and Facebook Messenger app in which users need to manually give storage permission to both the apps or else it will crash while using the phone’s camera.
Users currently using Oneplus X with versions 2.2.3 and 3.1.1 will get this 3.1.2 update OTA (Over The Air) without having to flash back to previous versions. Though it is quite disappointing for Oneplus X owners that they won’t be getting VoLTE support even with this update.
Finally, Android 6.1 Marshmallow stable version for Oneplus X users is on the way, a fair few months after Google released it last year.
