Oppo is all set to introduce a new camera-centric smartphone at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2017. The company has already started teasing on multiple social media platforms with a poster and taglines such as, “Go 5x Further”, “So close you can feel it.” The tech innovation event is scheduled on 27th February in Barcelona.
The teaser doesn’t reveal anything specific details about the technology Oppo is planning to reveal. However, we’re speculating it to be related to the camera. Oppo already has a couple of selfie-oriented smartphones like F1, F1s and F1 Plus which are doing good in the market with the USP of the selfie.
Now, it looks like the company is trying to get its feet wet into dual camera technology as it is the next big thing. Because going by the tag lines, we’re speculating that the company might launch a smartphone equipped with dual rear camera setup and featuring 5x optical zoom. So far, the optical zoom can only be achieved by featuring dual rear cameras with different lens sizes. Apple has already applied this technology in iPhone 7 Plus which gets the 2x optical zoom. If it turns out to be true, Oppo will set another benchmark in smartphone camera technology.
Oppo has been known to introducing new innovating technology at Mobile World Congress from the last couple of years. Last year at MWC, Oppo introduced VOOC Super Flash Charge technology to charge a smartphone in 15 minutes. And before that, it introduced Smart Sensor image stabilisation, the first sensor-based three-axis image stabiliser in the smartphone industry.
