In Qualcomm’s 4G/5G Summit currently being held in Hongkong, the company has announced that it is releasing three new Snapdragon CPUs. All of three CPU are the successor of the company’s popular mid-range chipsets.
These three new CPUs are Snapdragon 653, 626 and 427. In addition to these processors, Qualcomm has also announced to enable Quick Charge 3.0 to every new CPU coming on the board. Soon, we’ll be able to see mid-range smartphones enabled with quick charge capabilities.
All three new Snapdragon will also sport the company’s Quick Charge 3.0 as well as dual-camera support. The new CPUs also include better support for VoLTE and Ultra HD Voice with a new X9 LTE modem on board. The X9 LTE modem is an improvement over the X8 LTE modem which was used in predecessors of these CPUs.
The Snapdragon 653 and 626 will be commercially available by the end of this year, and the 427 will be available in early next year. That means we’ll be able to get our hands on the devices powered by these new processors in the first quarter of 2017.
Apart from these processors, the company also announced its big plans for future with cross-platform camera hardware. With this platform, the company is planning to go beyond the smartphone camera and work on emerging camera spaces like 360/VR, IP security cameras, dashcams, bodycams and action/sports cameras.
