Earlier this month, an alleged press shot of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S8 smartphone surfaced online, revealing a curved screen, thin bezels, and Iris scanner. A popular tipster @evleaks has jumped the gun [once again] and revealed some more press shots of the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+. These pictures point that the Galaxy 8 comes in a variety of colour options, i.e., Orchid Grey, Black Sky, and Arctic Silver. Both the phones are expected at the company’s Unpacked event in New York on March 29 this month.
Rumour has it that the Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch Quad HD (2560 x 1440 pixels) AMOLED screen. The Galaxy S8+, on the other hand, might sport a 6.2-inch Quad HD screen. They are expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 835 SoC (U.S. only) and the company’s Exynos 9 Series 8895 chip (Global). Inside are rumoured to be 4GB RAM and 64GB built-in storage, expandable up to 256GB through a microSD card.
It is likely that both the dual-SIM phones will run Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box. As far as photography is concerned, we are expecting these phones to house a 12MP dual-pixel rear camera based on Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF). To recall, devices such as Samsung Galaxy S7 and Moto G5 Plus are backed by the dual-pixel camera technology. Furthermore, Samsung’s most awaited flagship lineup of this year is likely to be IP68 rated water and dust resistant, similar to its predecessor.
Previous reports suggest that the Galaxy S8 packs a 3000mAh battery whereas the S8+ features a 3500mAh battery, supporting both wired and wireless charging.
