Samsung took the wraps off its flagship Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones last week in New York. Both the phones are set to go on sale in the U.S. starting April 21st. Meanwhile, if you are in India, we have good news for you! Guess what? Samsung has made the pre-registration for Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ live in India. Hence, it is evident that both of them will arrive in India soon, most probably mid-April.
The page reads “Register your interest in Galaxy S8,” containing different fields wherein you have to provide your name, contact details, and pin code. The page further contains a survey, asking about features that you are most excited about. You can choose from multiple options such as Infinity display, Iris scanner, Bixby, 10nm chipset (Snapdragon 835), and others.
Specs-wise, the Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ sport a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Super AMOLED screen respectively, featuring 2960 x 1440 Quad HD resolution. Both the phones come with a protective layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 up front. Inside are an octa-core Snapdragon 835 processor and Samsung Exynos processor (depending upon the market), 4GB RAM, and 64GB internal memory. The storage is further expandable up to 256GB using a microSD card support.
As for security, Samsung offers Iris scanner in addition to a fingerprint scanner, pattern lock, and password. The fingerprint scanner is now moved to the back beside the camera, which is a very unusual position to be honest, especially if you are left-handed. It houses a 12MP dual-pixel rear camera and 8MP selfie camera.
Both the phones are IP68 rated dust and water resistant and come running Android 7.0 Nougat-based software out of the box. Finally, the Samsung Galaxy S8 packs a 3000mAh battery whereas the Galaxy S8+ packs a 3500mAh battery. I also covered all the important announcements from Samsung’s recent Unpacked event held in New York. If you want to know more about Samsung’s Bixby and other cool accessories it unveiled, give it a shot.
