Videocon has launched its latest smartphone the Cube 3 in India. The smartphone comes with an SOS panic button function built into the phone. The Government of India had made it mandatory for all smartphones to have inbuilt GPS and a panic button to help increase safety.
The Videocon Cube 3 is a 4G VoLTE phone priced at Rs 8490 and will be available in offline retail store throughout the country. The phone boasts of the panic button which is found in the SOS-Be Safe App that comes preinstalled. This app uses the power button to act as an SOS button and when triggered sends out an SOS to pre-registered numbers. The app also has other nifty features like Alert, Walk with Me and Reach on Time. These are easily accessible from the status bar and users can set security preferences like contacts, time and distance. The smartphone uses GPS to keep track of the user movement and the app also shows nearby police station and hospital locations.
The Videocon Cube 3 sports a 5 inch HD display (1280×720 pixels) with 2.5D curved glass and DragonTail X Glass. The phone is powered by a MediaTek 6735 quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz and has 3GB of RAM. The phone runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with a few customizations from Videocon.
The phone sports a 13-megapixel camera at the back with PDAF (Phase Detection AutoFocus) and a dual LED flash. The camera on the front is a 5-megapixel sensor with a LED flash. This is a Dual SIM device and the phone support 4G and VoLTE and has a 3000mAh battery.
