Chinese technology company Vivo has launched a new phone in India dubbed Vivo V5. It was known for a couple of weeks that Vivo will launch this phone on November 15th during an event in Mumbai. The Vivo V3 successor is designed with selfie lovers in mind with a humongous 20-megapixel front-facing camera. However, the company has apparently skipped the V4.
Coming to the specifications, the Vivo V5 features a 5.5-inch HD display which is covered by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by a MediaTek 6750 Octa-Core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and paired with 4GB RAM. The phone comes with an internal storage of 32GB which is further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card. The smartphone features a fingerprint scanner on the home button which according to Vivo unlocks the phone in 0.2 seconds.
Running Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system with Funtouch OS 2.6 skin on top, the Vivo V5 sports dual a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED Flash and PDAF (Phase Detection Autofocus). It also includes a whopping 20-megapixel front-facing camera with Moonlight Flash and f/2.0 aperture. Connectivity features include 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS, and USB OTG. Other supported sensors include an accelerometer, ambient Light, proximity, and e-compass. A 3000mAh battery completes the package.
Vivo said that it’s hopeful about creating a new benchmark, thanks to the V5 which is the company’s latest offering entirely focused on selfies. Priced at Rs 17,980, the Vivo V5 comes in two color options — Rose Gold and Space Grey. It will available in both, online and offline markets starting November 26th. It may compete with Oppo F1 Plus which is priced around Rs 24,000 and has a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
