Just last week, we came across the news of Xiaomi breaking the shackles of Qualcomm and manufacturing its own chipset for its latest smartphone Mi 5c. Well, Xiaomi itself has confirmed the news. The company official page of Chinese microblogging website Weibo has recently posted a teaser for the launch event invitation.
The event is scheduled to be held at 2 PM on 28th February at Beijing National Convention Centre, China. Earlier, the details of Pinecone processors surfaced online through Weibo, claiming Xiaomi is currently working on two Pinecone chipsets – V670 and V970. The Xiaomi Mi 5c is expected to be equipped with Pinecone V670 which is said to be using 28nm manufacturing processor with two clusters of four Cortex A-53 cores. The V970 on the other hand, uses one cluster of 4 Cortex-A53 cores and another cluster of 4 Cortex-A73 cores. This one uses the latest 10nm manufacturing process. Both of these chipsets are octa-core, and the V970 is said to come in the last quarter of this year.
As stated earlier, the Xiaomi Mi 5c will be the first smartphone to be powered by Xiaomi’s in-house Pinecone chipset. As per recent leaks, the Xiaomi will sport a 5-inch Full HD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1020 pixels.
