Earlier this year, Xiaomi introduced the Redmi 4-series smartphones with the launch of Redmi Note 4 in India. Now, the company is also set to unveil the next successor – the Redmi 5-series. According to a leak recently emerged on Chinese microblogging website Weibo, the Redmi 5 will come with further advanced hardware and software specs.
The leak reveals the Redmi 5 in all its glory boasting a new design and the recently announced Snapdragon 630 processor. Accompanying the chipset, the phone is said to feature a massive 4GB of RAM. This is also rumoured to be the first Xiaomi smartphone to come with MIUI 9 built on top of Android 7.0 Nougat. It will sport a 5-inch Full HD IPS display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels.
The phone is rumoured to come in two different variants – one with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and another one with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. It is also said to sport a 16-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front facing camera. The phone also houses a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.
Powering all, the Redmi 5 will pack in a 3,680mAh backed with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. As far as connectivity is concerned, the device is said to feature Dual-SIM, 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, microUSB port, and 3.5mm headphone jack.
The leak also includes the pricing of the device. It is said to cost $125 (₹8,053) for the 3GB variant, whereas the 4GB RAM model would carry a price tag of $190 (₹12,240).
