Overview
Micromax Canvas HD A116 is the successor to the immensely popular A110. Micromax did well with the Canvas 2 and it sold on a premium in local markets owing to stock shortages. The A116 brings the same screen size of 5" with Android, but Micromax seems to have worked on the display quality this time. Micromax has a 1.2GHz Quad Core processor powering the A116 and a 1GB RAM to back it up. Stock Android version 4.2 (Jelly Bean) helps the case for them.

The 8MP camera produces 720p videos, which we would hope is better than its predecessor. The 5" LCD sports a resolution of 1280x720, which keeps the Canvas series in competition with Samsung Galaxy Note 2.
The Indian phone maker Micromax has launched Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114, adding to its now seemingly endless lineup of the Canvas sub-brand. Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114 sports a 5 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 960x540 pixel resolution (for comparison — Micromax Canvas A116 has 1280x720 pixels). It is powered by 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582M, Cortex-A7 based Quad-core processor. It has 1GB RAM and 4GB internal memory out of which only 2GB is user available. It can be expanded up to 32GB by microSD card. It runs Android Jelly Bean 4.2 which is a few generations older than the most recent Android 4.4 KitKat.

Moving to the camera, there’s 8MP rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash. It can record HD videos at 1080p, which is better than Canvas HD A116’s 720p video recording resolution. Canvas 2.2 A114 has a 2MP front-facing camera for video calling and selfies. Connectivity wise it is 3G and WiFi enabled. It houses a 2000mAh battery which the company claims will deliver 7 hours of talktime and 290 hours standby. Overall in the display department Canvas HD A116 gives sharp output, whereas this phone gives better HD videos.
