This is a unique phone from the Indian handset maker, Micromax because it pays the user for viewing advertisements. The user can view ads whenever he wants for free, but in return the user will get credits which can be used to recharge a mobile phone. The advertisements will pop-up before a call is made and the video will last for 30/60 seconds (users can abort advertisements if they want to proceed towards making the call). If a user does not want these ads at all then he can do so by not registering for them. Other than this, the Canvas Mad is a typical smartphone — with a 4.5 inch (854x480 pixels) IPS Display with a pixel density of 218PPI (which is bearable for a phone of this price range). It is powered by a 1.2GHz Quad-core processor and is paired with 512MB RAM (the phone might not be able to run a large number of apps simultaneously due to insufficient RAM). Out of the 4GB internal storage, 2.2GB is available to the user. Fortunately, there is a card slot which accepts microSD cards of storage upto 32GB.
The phone accustoms to the trend of capturing selfies thus it comes with a 5 megapixel rear and front camera. Moreover, the rear supports flash and can capture HD videos at 720p. It runs on Android v4.2 Jelly Bean. Like others, even Micromax MAd features Dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) connectivity with 3G, Bluetooth, WiFi and GPS. It has a 1800mAh battery which might be somewhat insignificant to power the hardware for the entire day.
The Micromax Canvas Fun A76 is similar to the Canvas Fun A74 which also sells as part of the colourful 'Fun' series of handsets from the Indian phone maker. It comes in the same three youthful shades — Red, Black and Blue. The A76 has a bigger 5-inch screen, but with the same 854 x 480 pixels, which in effect would reduce the pixel density. Interestingly, the processor is also a tad slower at 1.2GHz as compared to 1.3GHz on the A74. Rest of the details are about the same — 4GB internal memory, 512MB RAM, a 5 megapixel fixed focus camera. One thing substantially bigger on the A76, other than its display, is the 2000mAh rated battery (the A74 has a 1500mAh one). Connectivity options include WiFi, 3G and Bluetooth 2.0. It runs Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box.
