Overview
The Indian phone maker Micromax has launched Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114, adding to its now seemingly endless lineup of the Canvas sub-brand. Micromax Canvas 2.2 A114 sports a 5 inches IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen with 960x540 pixel resolution (for comparison — Micromax Canvas A116 has 1280x720 pixels). It is powered by 1.3GHz MediaTek MT6582M, Cortex-A7 based Quad-core processor. It has 1GB RAM and 4GB internal memory out of which only 2GB is user available. It can be expanded up to 32GB by microSD card. It runs Android Jelly Bean 4.2 which is a few generations older than the most recent Android 4.4 KitKat.

Moving to the camera, there’s 8MP rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash. It can record HD videos at 1080p, which is better than Canvas HD A116’s 720p video recording resolution. Canvas 2.2 A114 has a 2MP front-facing camera for video calling and selfies. Connectivity wise it is 3G and WiFi enabled. It houses a 2000mAh battery which the company claims will deliver 7 hours of talktime and 290 hours standby. Overall in the display department Canvas HD A116 gives sharp output, whereas this phone gives better HD videos.
Micromax Canvas Magnus A117 is a recent launch from Micromax brand Canvas series and thus replacing Micromax Canvas A116 HD. The smartphone supports 2G and 3G network with specifications like GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and HSDPA 2100 respectively. It supports dual SIM. The smartphone offers a touch screen of size 720 x 1280 pixels, 5.0 inches with an IPS LCD capacitive touch screen, 16M range of colors. The phone runs on an Android OS, v4.2 (Jelly Bean) with the processor speed of Quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A7 and the chipset used is MTK 6589T. It’s got internal memory of 4 GB with 2.6 GB user available with 1 GB RAM. The expandable memory is up to 32 GB (micro SD).

The phone sports a 12 MP camera with 4000 x 3000 pixels, autofocus and an LED flash, wherein the camera is upgraded from 8MP to 12MP as compared to its predecessor — the Canvas HD A116. The additional features that the phone encompasses are Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection. This phone also offers a secondary front-facing camera of 2MP. The phone has a 2000 mAh standard Li-ion battery which provides up to 7 hours of talk time and 180 hours in stand-by mode. The sensors used in the smartphone are proximity sensor, gravity sensor, motion sensor and light sensor that makes the phone altogether more attractive.
