Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo i9300i vs Motorola Moto G 2nd Gen Specs

Specs
Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo i9300iMotorola Moto G 2nd Gen

Editor Notes

The Moto G 2nd Gen is the successor to the Moto G which became Motorola's best selling phone ever. This was mainly because it offered great value for money. While the Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo is just a toned down Galaxy S3. Samsung is known to produce a Neo version of their phones by just tweaking them a bit. The S3 Neo has a nominally smaller screen (4.8 inches) than the Moto G 2nd Gen (5 inches) so its pixel density is a bit higher considering they both sport a 720p display. In terms of processor, both run on a 1.2GHz Quad Core one but the S3 is packed with a bit more of RAM than the Moto G 2nd Gen (1.5GB vs 1GB). Having said that, the performance on the Moto G 2nd Gen is smooth and this can be owed to the fact that the device runs on near to stock Android (KitKat, 4.4) while the S3 Neo has a skin of TouchWiz over Android (JellyBean, 4.3).

TouchWiz is known to lag on even the higher end phones by Samsung, so expecting a good experience on a phone with mediocre specifications is futile. Also, the Moto G 2nd has got the Android Lollipop update while on the other hand, there is no official announcement from Samsung as to if/when will the S3 Neo get the update. The rear camera on both the phones have 8 Megapixel sensors but the S3 Neo does HD video recording while the Moto G 2nd Gen maxes out at 720p. The difference in the battery power too is nominal (2100 mAh on the S3 vs 2070 mAh on the Moto G 2nd Gen) but Moto will have better optimization due to stock Android. TouchWiz or generally any skin with too many tweaks tends to drain the battery of a phone.

All in all, it is quite simple to choose between these two as the Moto G 2nd Gen is a much better phone. It has a good no fuss Android experience, gets faster updates and is relatively new in the market. The only area where the S3 Neo may be better is the camera and that should not be the sole reason for choosing it as the difference is nominal and choosing the Moto G 2nd Gen has way more pros. But if you don't like stock Android and want additional features then maybe the S3 Neo will be a better buying choice. To sum it up, even though they have similar specifications, we suggest that you go in for the Moto G 2nd Gen. This is mainly because specifications on paper may not always show up in performance.
