HTC One Mini 2 Features

The HTC One (M8) was the Taiwanese company’s 2014 top-of-the-line model. Just like the last year, they've introduced a mini version of the flagship in the form of the HTC One mini 2. It bears a very close resemblance to its big brother, with the curvy brushed aluminum back that has a premium feel to it. They've also retained the front-firing stereo speakers that people love about the entire One series. Other than sharing design, it also runs the same Sense 6.0 software atop Android 4.4 KitKat.

The screen is a 4.5-inch 1280 x 720 pixel LCD panel, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by a Snapdragon 400 quad-core 1.2GHz chip, which is a step-up from the dual-core chip that powered the original HTC One mini. But you should also know that this same chip is also used in phones that cost way less than this phone. Moving on, there’s 1GB of RAM, which is a bit of a disappointment, knowing the HTC Desire 816 comes with 1.5GB. There’s 16GB of internal memory, but thankfully is expandable by a microSD card slot (you can go all the way up to 128GB).

Instead of using the ‘UltraPixel’ sensor, HTC has opted to go with a more typical 13 megapixel sensor at the back (which technically makes the camera shoot at a higher resolution than the bigger HTC One M8). There’s no secondary sensor at the back to capture additional depth information. But thankfully HTC has retained the 5MP lens in the front to capture high quality selfies. A 2110mAh non-removable battery powers this unit.

All in all, the HTC One mini 2 sounds like a good buy for someone seeking a comfortably-sized, premium-feeling smartphone. But it may face stiff competition from the Sony Z1 Compact, that crams all the goodness of its big brother in a smaller package.
