Quick Review of Nokia Lumia 1020

The Good
  • Exceedingly good camera capable of shooting virtually everything you would want to
  • Strong battery performance
  • Just about the right form factor for one handed usage
  • Available in plenty of bright colours
  • Sharp and crisp display with excellent colours
The Bad
  • Weak app ecosystem
  • Presence of too many camera apps makes the experience really confusing
  • Lacks expandable storage
  • Not the most reliable performer as there are lags across the UX
  • The protruding camera module makes the phone look bulkier and bigger than it is

Nokia Lumia 1020 Features

The Lumia 1020 from Nokia (a.k.a Nokia EOS) is the long awaited successor to the 808 PureView. Although the PureView was raved for its imaging capabilities, the obsolete Symbian OS was its Achilles' Heel. Now that Nokia has devoted itself to Microsoft's Windows Phone (WP) as the OS that powers their smartphones, the Lumia 1020 is a pro-camera phone running WP8. Based on the same concept of oversampling, the Lumia 1020 uses the 41 megapixel sensor to take shots that are equivalent to a 5MP size, but does not suffer in quality loss when you zoom into any portion of that image. And unlike the 808 PureView, the Lumia 1020 doesn't have a prominent bulk at the back to occupy the large camera sensor. It has other pro-camera features like OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), Xenon flash etc. It also boasts of recording Full HD video that you can zoom up to six times without losing quality, with stereo sound recording. Other than the camera features, it is quite similar to the Lumia 920/925 in terms of feature set, except for doubling of the RAM to 2GB.
