Talk about 6GB RAM Mobile Phones, ask your questions!
RAM is an important component for anyone buying a mobile or laptop today. Smartphones started with modest 128MB or 256MB RAM and have fast grown to now have 2,3 or 4 GB of memory. This game has now gotten escalated to a new level with phones running on 6GB RAM showing up in India. If this game gets any more ahead, phones may well beat laptops that offer 8GB of RAM.
Why RAM is Important?
When loading heavy games and applications, for faster execution the OS uses Random Access Memory (RAM) to make things faster. A permanent storage (where you save photos & other media) is meant for saving things for long term and retrieving them as per need. But when an application runs it needs a lot of spare memory area to keep its data and run smoothly. RAM helps with that. Hence high amount of RAM helps in speeding up a lot of things that you do with your phone, specially heavy applications and gaming. For many of us even our contacts book can be a heavy application with thousands of phone nos. RAM can help with that too.
However higher RAM is not always an indicator of faster performance. Operating Systems like iOS are known to be more efficient in RAM usage and thus you would see that iPhones have lesser RAM than Android phones.
