Talk about BlackBerry Mobile Phones, ask your questions!

Credited with being one of the first players to the smartphone game, BlackBerry is a household name when it comes to personal technology. With its handsets and services business, Blackberry has been a go to name for business professionals far and across the globe. Originally manufactured and marketed by Research in Motion (RIM), BlackBerry services and devices today are a part of the Blackberry Ltd brand. The first product to come out of RIM's laboratory was the inter@ctive pager 900 followed by the model 800. However, it was not until 1999, when we finally saw the BlackBerry branded device, which was an E-Mail pager called, Blackberry 850.

Not just the devices, BlackBerry services continue to remain the linchpin of the company with BlackBerry Internet Services available in over 90 countries and across more than 500 service operators. In parallel to BIS, BES or blackberry Enterprise Service remains a very attractive offerings especially in the corporate space for those who cannot live without their E-Mails. At the peak of its powers in September 2013, Blackberry boasted over 84 million subscribers.

Famous for its blocky bold designs, trackball and a full QWERTY keyboard, it was extremely easy to spot a BlackBerry device from far out and wide. At one time, it was Blackberry devices that were seen as a bit of a status symbol, just the positioning that Apple seems to have made for itself. With lineups of devices like the Blackberry Bold, Curve, Torch as well as Pearl, BlackBerry has enjoyed some real hit products when it comes to mobile world. However, things have not quite been comfortable for the Canadian giants since the historical moment where Steve Jobs changed the smartphone industry with the unveiling of the iPhone. BlackBerry has struggled against the fast growth of iOS, Android as well as Windows Phones, always playing catchup, both in terms of features, device design and ecosystem growth. Add to it the fact that most modern day smartphones do email and IM just as well as a BlackBerry, which were the two major USPs of the brand, dark clouds have been looming large for a while. Piece by piece, Android phone makers like Samsung, LG, Motorola have taken BlackBerry's piece of the pie away.

While the future of the brand remains clouded and hazy as ever, BlackBerry is betting big on its OS 10 devices for a revival in the wake of the success that both Android and iOS has enjoyed. The first couple of devices to bring BlackBerry OS 10 were the BlackBerry Z10 and Q10, which were met with less than enthusiastic response. Since then devices like Q5, Z30, Passport, Classic, Priv have been announced, though none of them have had the muscle power to pull the BlackBerry name to the heights that it once scaled. However, with constant efforts to improvise on the ecosystem, which now sees the latest version of BlackBerry OS 10 capable of running Android apps, you cannot fault BlackBerry for the lack of trying. Sometimes though, you just wonder and wish if things would work out and would have that solid product from BlackBerry and make it a force again, if for nothing else, for those good old days of early 2000s where a smartphone meant a BlackBerry.
