Xolo Era X Features

The Xolo Era X is a budget smartphone announced by Xolo in the first quarter of 2016. The smartphone has been priced aggressively and would really appeal to those who are looking to pick up an Android phone without spending too much. The phone brings LTE with it, which makes it a future proof phone. Other than LTE, here is what is included:

Display & Design
The design of the phone is pretty classical candybar design, and has fairly rounded corners. The edges of the phone are not very sharp either, and there is a metal like ring that is running around the phone. Since the phone is available only in black colour, it does manage to look classy, despite barely anything significant about it from the design perspective. The screen on the phone is a 5-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. This equates to a pixel density of 294PPI. There is Gorilla Glass protection on the phone, so if you drop your phone too often, there would be at least some protection.

Hardware and Features
In the engine room of the Era X is a Quad-core, 1.5GHz Spreadtrum SC9830A chipset. There is Mali 400 GPU for handling the graphics onboard. Xolo has included 2GB of RAM on board too. On paper, the specifications look fairly modest, and something that you should expect in this price. However, if you have your reservations against the Spreadtrum processor, there is the Xolo Era 4K with a MediaTek chipset which is a good pick in the price range. The phone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop at launch, but Xolo has explicitly stated that the phone can be upgraded to Marshmallow. The phone also brings with it support for several Indian languages such as Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati etc.

Camera & Storage
The camera on the Xolo Era X is a 8MP sensor on the rear with an LED flash. The front facing shooter is a 5MP camera with an LED included. This should be sufficient for the needs of your selfies and video chatting. There is only 8GB of storage on board though, you can expand the same using a MicroSD card. The phone supports up to 32GB of MicroSD card.

Battery and Connectivity
Since the battery of the Xolo Era 4K is removable, you will be able to carry a couple of spare units with you and replace them in case you do not have immediate access to your charger. This does not hide away from the fact that the 2,500mAh battery unit is not really going to be something that would please those who are looking for long spells on their phones, sans the charger. You do have 4G LTE connectivity here. There is WiFi, Bluetooth as well as MicroUSB port for data charging and syncing. You have an FM player in built as well as support for Dual SIM card on the phone.

In the sub Rs 6,000 mark, there are a few phones that you should consider before you are sold on to picking up the Era X. There is the Xolo Era 4K and the Canvas Fire 4G which outperform the Era X. You can always extend your budget and pick the Lenovo Vibe K5 or the Coolpad Note 3 Lite, if you want a phone with a fingerprint scanner.
