Yu Yutopia Full Specifications
Yu Yutopia Features
The Yu Yutopia is the most power packed smartphone that we have seen from Yu, at least so far in 2016. After playing strong in the mid-range and budget category, Yu announced the Yu Yutopia to primarily take on the likes of the OnePlus 2 in a bid to be a true flagship killer. However, with launch delays and later complains of a poorly optimized software the phone did not reach the heights it was expected to.
Display and Design
The Yu Yutopia features a regular candybar design with metallic body that we have seen on several modern day smartphones. It is a borderline seen it all design, which may seem a little boring to you. The front of the phone is dominated by a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display. The screen resolution is 1440x2560, giving it an incredible pixel density of 565 PPI. The display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass so you can be secure about the display.
Hardware and Features
The Yu Yutopia is powered by the flagship Octa Core, Snapdragon 810 chipset. There is 4GB of RAM and in combination with a fast chipset, the Yu Yutopia should be able to handle most tasks thrown at it effortlessly. In its price range, the Yu Yutopia is perhaps the most powerful smartphone there is, but what hurts the phone is that out of the box it comes with Android 5.1.1 rather than Marshmallow. Although the UI is very close to stock Android, the software is not best optimized, which leads to a stuttery performance. You get a fingerprint scanner on the back of the Yu Yutopia. This fingerprint scanner can double up as a camera shutter button for taking selfies.
Camera & Storage
The rear camera on the Yu Yutopia features a 21MP Sony IMX230 sensor with OIS and Phase Detection Autofocus. The rear camera is capable of recording videos in 4K at 60fps. The front facing camera is an 8MP sensor, which should do well to suffice your need for a good selfie phone. For all the pictures you take, there is a generous 32GB internal memory on the Yutopia. You can further expand this by a MicroSD card, which can be inserted into the slot 2 in the SIM tray.
Battery and Connectivity
The Yutopia comes with a non-removable 3000 mAh Li-Po battery. This should last you a day on a single charge, but you will have to carefully manage it. If you do run out of the battery, there is Quick Charge 2.0 support, which will enable you to charge about 60% of the battery in three hours or so. The device has a hybrid SIM that lets you to either use two SIM cards simultaneously or just stick to one SIM card and a MicroSD card. On the connectivity front, you get a Micro USB connector at the bottom. LTE support is available as is WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
As mentioned already, the Yu Yutopia competes against the OnePlus 2 as the ultimate flagship killer. However, if you are looking for a slightly more powerful device in the range, you should consider the Xiaomi Mi5. Also, the Lenovo Vibe X3 or the Nextbit Robin, albeit with a slightly inferior chipset but better optimized software would be a smart pick.
