Asus has come a long way since its inception in Taiwan in early 1989. Immaculately taglined, "In Search of Incredible, Asus has been at the heart of pushing the digital revolution forward. Asus is a brand that has become synonymous with innovation driven quality product. They have pushed the envelope of innovation forward most famously with their smartphone lineup called the Zenfone as well as the Transformer and Fonepad lineup of tablets. Very interesting to note is that the name Asus originates from the word Pegasus, which in Greek mythology is a winged horse. In order to rank higher in any alphabetical history, it was decided to go ahead and use only the last four letters, which gave birth to Asus. On the mobile front, Asus has been one of the first members of the Open Handset Alliance (includes members like HTCSamsungLGZTE etc) in 2008, which promised to either use Android software with its hardware or make significant contributions to the code for AOSP (Android Open Source Project). However, it was not until late 2010 that we saw a solely Asus branded smartphone, given the existence of a previously held strategic partnership with Garmin, which saw six smartphones under the umbrella of Garmin Asus.
