Rumors have it that Apple will be launching three iPhones in September this year. The 2018 iPhone models are expected to include a 6.1-inch LCD iPhone, a 6.5-inch OLED iPhone and a 5.8-inch OLED iPhone which will be an upgraded version of the iPhone X. Former KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo who is now associated with TF International Securities has speculated on the color variants and pricing of the upcoming 6.1-inch and 6.5-inch iPhones.
According to Kuo, the 6.5-inch iPhone will be arriving in a new gold variant along with color choices like white and black. In April, the appearance of the gold variant was leaked through its FCC filing. It could either be the upcoming 5.8-inch or 6.5-inch iPhone as it features a dual camera setup. The analyst has revealed that the 6.5-inch OLED iPhone could be priced around $1000.
He has not commented on the color variants and pricing of the upcoming 5.8-inch iPhone. There is a possibility that it may arrive in same color variants like the larger 6.5-inch model. It could be priced $100 less than its larger sibling.
The 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will be a lower-end model that is expected to sport a notched display like the other forthcoming OLED iPhones. Kuo has stated that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will be available in colors like gray, white, blue, red and orange.
9to5mac has created a mock up of the new color variants by tinting the iPhone X. Even though the above image shows the presence of a dual camera setup, one should be aware of the fact that the 6.1-inch iPhone with a single camera on its rear. Kuo is of the view that the 6.1-inch LCD iPhone will be hitting the market with a price tag of $700. This low-priced iPhone is unlikely to feature stainless steel frame and 3D Touch that are expected to be available on the other OLED iPhones.
The gray and white variants could be the Space Gray and Silver variants. There is no confirmation on whether the red variant of the phone is actually the PRODUCT (RED) edition like the special red variant of the iPhone 8.
Kuo has also forecasted that the LCD iPhone will account for around 55 percent sales when the upcoming iPhones are introduced. He also expects that the popularity of the LCD iPhone will continue through 2019. He also expects that there will be more demand for the forthcoming premium OLED iPhones at launch.
The analyst believes that the Cupertino based firm will sell around 70 million iPhone units by Q4 2018. This will let the company meet significant growth in year-over-year shipments of iPhones.
