At the global press conference held in New York, Acer unveiled two new gaming laptops under its Predator line-up. The company also launched new Aspire and Spin laptops. As for the gaming laptops, the Predator Helio 700 is a desktop replacement machine with top-of-the-line hardware. The company also announced a mid-range Helio 300 with a similar design and updated internals. Let’s take a look below:
Predator Helio 700:
The Predator Helio 700 looks like an absolute gaming monster. It sports a 17-inch FHD IPS display featuring a 144Hz refresh rate and a 3ms response time. The Predator Helios 700 packs hardware firepower. It is equipped with a 9th Gen Intel Core i9 processor along with Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 or 2070 GPU. It packs up to 64GB DDR4 RAM. The Helios 700 is also equipped with 4th-generation AeroBlade 3D fans, five copper heat pipes, a vapour chamber and Acer CoolBoost technology.
The main USP of this device is the HyperDrift keyboard which lets users overclock the hardware. The keyboard slides forward which facilitates efficient airflow and maintains a cool and quite breeze which also improves performance. The keyboard features per-key RGB lighting and MagForce WASD keys.
The powerful hardware makes the Predator Helios 700 very bulky measuring 1.64-inches in thickness and weighing 9.9 pounds.
Predator Helios 300:
The Predator Helios comes with improved hardware and a refreshed design. The device flaunts a metal chassis with teal blue accents, a backlit keyboard and narrow bezels around the display. The Helios 300 is offered in 15.6-inch or 17.3-inch FHD display options with the same refresh rate as the Helios 700.
On the hardware front, the laptop is powered by a 9th Gen Core i7 chipset with Nvidia RTX 2070 GPU with Max-Q design. It packs up to 32GB DDR4 RAM. The laptop also features AeroBlade 3D fans.
Acer Nitro 7 and Nitro 5:
Alongside the Predator gaming laptops, Acer also launched a new Nitro 7 laptop and updated the Nitro 5.
The Nitro 7 is a quite slim laptop measuring just 20mm in thickness. It features a 15.6-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 78 percent screen-to-body ratio. The Nitro 7 is powered by a 9th Gen Intel Core processor coupled with Nvidia GTX graphics. It packs up to 32GB DDR4 RAM and offers up to 2TB storage. The laptop comes with two dedicated slots for PCIe SSDs.
As for the Nitro 5, it retains all the specs of Nitro 7. However, the former also comes in 17.3-inch display size.
Both the device come with dual fans, CoolBoost technology and dual exhaust port to keep the machines cool during gaming sessions.
Pricing & Availability:
Acer has set the price of Predator Helios 700 at $2,699 (~Rs 1,85,990). The Helios 300 will retail at $ 1,199.99 (~ Rs 82,600). Both the laptops will go on sale this month.
As for the Nitro 7 and Nitro 5, the former is already up for sale in the US since March at $999.99 (~ Rs 68,890). The Nitro 5 will be available in the US at $799.99 (~ Rs 55,100) from April 2019.
The pricing & availability of the laptops will vary from region to region. There is no word on the India pricing & availability yet.
