The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020 is all set to kickstart from January 7th in Las Vegas and go on till January 10th, 2020. However, a day ahead of the event, several brands have gone ahead and launched their products to get an early start. The Taiwanese brand, Acer also jumped the queue and expanded its Spin range of convertible laptops with two new models. The new models are called the Spin 3 and Spin 5 and are powered by Intel’s Ice Lake 10th gen processors. Let’s take a look at what they offer in terms of specifications.
Acer Spin 3 specifications and features
The Acer Spin 3 is the more affordable of the two, and comes with a bigger 14-inch display. The screen offers a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels and has an aspect ratio of 16:9. It features Acer CineCrystal tech with LED backlighting, IPS TFT LCD panel with multitouch, and a Wacom AES pen. The display also comes with the signature 360-degree hinge and integrated stylus, making it ideal for creators. The fast-charging Acer Active Stylus has its own slot inside a charging slot in the laptops’ chassis. As for the performance, Acer is offering Intel Core i5 or i3 as options on the Spin 3 with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of NVMe storage.
On the connectivity front, you get a USB Type-C with support for Thunderbolt 3, USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, HDMI port, microSD card reader, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
Acer Spin 5 specifications and features
The Acer Spin 5 is the beefed-up variant of the duo and comes with 2K (2,256 x 1,504 pixels) display, albeit with a smaller 13.5-inch panel but wider 3:2 aspect ratio. It gets the same Acer CineCrystal tech screen with Wacom AES pen support and the fast charging Acer Active Stylus. In terms of performance, the Spin 5 gets more powerful Intel Core i7 or Core i5 processors. Apart from these, the Spin 5 shares all its features with the Spin 3, except for an additional Thunderbolt 3 port.
Acer Spin 3 and Spin 5 price and availability
Acer has announced that the Spin 3 will be available starting April 2020 with a starting price of $699 (~Rs 50,400). On the other hand, the more expensive Spin 5 will go on sale from June in North America with a starting price set at $899 (Rs 65,000).
