Airtel, India’s largest telecom provider has recently faced severe competition from Reliance Jio. Both companies are constantly battling to provide the best deals and service. Jio launched a Republic Day offer which provided unlimited calls and 2GB of data per month at Rs. 98. To counter this, Airtel has launched a new plan which offers just about the same benefits with 1GB data at a slightly lower price.
The new plan by Airtel costs a mere Rs. 93 which will offer unlimited local as well as STD calls. In addition to that, it will also come bundled with 1GB of data and 100 SMS per day. The validity of the plan is 28 days. Previously, this very plan offered the same benefits but had a validity of just 10 days.
The scheme is targeted for people who use their phones more for calling rather than data. This makes it is suitable for users who spend more time with their phones connected to WiFi. This way, they get the advantage of unlimited calling and sufficient data that should last through the month. The plan may not be suitable if you are someone who spends a large amount of time outdoors and consumes data.
If you are someone who needs the additional data as well as unlimited calling bundled with SMS, you should opt for the Rs. 199 plan by Airtel. This offers the standard unlimited calls and SMS with an added 39GB of data. Essentially the plan offers 1.4GB of data per day which should be more than sufficient for your daily audio and video streaming purposes.
Airtel recently launched 4G VoLTE in many circles across India and has since been able to compete even more rigorously with Reliance Jio, especially when it comes to unlimited calls. VoLTE offers better audio quality, fewer call drops and quicker interconnect times. This, in addition with the two major contenders battling to retain consumers, has resulted in tariffs rapidly dropping and more so frequently.
