Airtel launches Free Data Coupons offer for prepaid users, offers up to 6GB free data

Airtel has been offering several plans to compete with Reliance Jio in the country. The telco has now introduced a Free Data Coupons offer in India, which is its own take on a similar offer being provided by Jio through the MyJio app. The data coupons by Airtel will be added to the Airtel Thanks app.

Additionally, the telco has discontinued its annual plan with the denomination of Rs 2,398. With this move, Airtel now has only one annual prepaid plan in its dossier, which competes directly with a similar plan from Reliance Jio. Here are all details of the new Free Data Coupons and the annual plan from the telco.

Airtel has announced that all users on unlimited plans of Rs 219 and above are eligible to receive free data coupons through the Airtel Thanks app. According to the Airtel website, the telco will provide these data coupons to a select few prepaid users only, who will be chosen based on the eligibility criteria set by Airtel. The website further mentions that while there will be no limit on the number of users selected on day to day basis, but users will receive the coupons only once.

For those on Rs 219, Rs 249, Rs 279, Rs 298, Rs 349, and Rs 398 prepaid recharge plans, Airtel will offer two coupons of 1GB high-speed data each with a validity of 28 days. The Rs 399, Rs 449 and Rs 558 prepaid plan users will be given fours coupons of 1GB data valid for 56 days each. Lastly, the Rs 598 and Rs 698 plan users will receive six coupons of 1GB data valid for 84 days.

Bear in mind, only select few users will get the data coupons from the telco.

Airtel discontinues its Rs 2,398 annual plan in India

Airtel has discontinued the Rs 2,398 annual plan in India. The plan offered benefits like 1.5GB high-speed data per day, unlimited voice calls, 100 SMS messages per day for 365 days, Airtel Xstream and free Hellotunes.

With this move, Airtel now only has a Rs 2,498 annual plan, which offers similar benefits but with 2GB high-speed data per day. Airtel is competing with Jio’s annual plan that offers similar benefits but comes with a denomination of Rs 2,599.
