India’s largest telecom operator Airtel has launched a new 4G smartphone in partnership with Celkon. The new smartphone is named as Celkon Star 4G+ and will be available at an effective price of Rs. 1249. The original price of the phone stands to be somewhere around Rs. 3,000 but the brand will retail it to customers at Rs. 2,749. Out of which, Rs. 1,500 will be offered as cashback to users after a period of 3 years. Airtel has been actively pushing its ‘Mera Pehla Smartphone’ initiative since a couple of months and this phone is a part of it. This is another budget smartphone that a phone manufacturer has launched in collaboration with a telecom firm.
How to buy the Celkon Star 4G+ at Rs. 1249 (and conditions to receive the cashback):
- Make a down payment of Rs. 2,749 to purchase the phone.
- Make 36 continuous monthly recharges.
- Recharges should be made in the same phone for the complete 3 years.
- Minimum recharge of Rs. 3000 should be done in the first 18 months and the same amount in the last 18 months.
In total, users who choose to buy the Celkon Star 4G+ have to pay a sum of Rs. 6000 in 3 years to avail the cashback. Although buyers can make recharges of any denominations but they will be eligible to receive the cashback only if they meet the above conditions. Airtel recommends a recharge of Rs. 169 that offers free local, STD calls and 1.4GB of 3G data for a period of 28 days. This validity period is only for Airtel partnered 4G phones. For other phones, this same recharge value offers a validity of 14 days.
Coming to Celkon Star 4G+’s specifications, it comes with a 4-inch display and runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor which works along with 512MB of RAM. In terms of camera, the 4G device has got a 3.2-megapixel sensor on the back and a 2-megapixel sensor on the front. There is 4GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card. The device packs in an 1800mAh battery unit inside it.

The trend seems to have started after Reliance Launched its JioPhone at an effective price of Rs. 0 earlier this year.
The newly launched Celkon Star 4G+ will be available for purchase through mobile retailers across the country.
