Telecom operator Airtel has announced a new plan for prepaid users. The Rs 179 prepaid recharge plan comes bundled with a life insurance cover worth Rs 2 lakhs. The telco has partnered with Bharti AXA Life Insurance to offer insurance benefits, making it more accessible and affordable for consumers. In a statement, Shashwat Sharma, Chief Marketing Officer, Bharti Airtel said, “The Rs. 179 recharge will offer one of the simplest and most accessible platforms to hundreds of millions of Indians to financially secure themselves and their families while staying connected on Airtel’s world-class network.”
The new Rs 178 prepaid recharge plan is targeted at entry-level users in semi-urban and rural markets. The pack is valid for 28 days and offers unlimited voice calling to any network along with 2GB data and 300 SMSes. Customers who fall in the age group of 18-54-years can avail the insurance cover by recharging with the Rs 178 prepaid plan. The policy will get activated on every recharge and won’t require any additional paperwork or medical tests. The policy or Certificate of Insurance will be instantly delivered digitally. Customers can also request a physical copy of the insurance. The insurance process can be completed digitally at any Airtel store or through the Airtel Thanks app.
In a press statement, Airtel said that the Rs 178 prepaid recharge pack will give customers a simple and highly convenient channel to secure themselves and their families financially every time they recharge their Airtel mobile numbers. Notably, Airtel also offers a Rs 279 prepaid plan with Rs 4 lakh insurance cover from HDFC Life. It offers unlimited calls along with 1.5GB data and 100 SMSes per day.
