Airtel’s Online Store has been offering various smartphones on EMI options for a while now, but so far it’s been limited only to postpaid users. Now, the telco is offering smartphones with down payment and EMI options to its prepaid users as well. However only three smartphone i.e. Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1 and Oppo F9 Pro are available under the EMI scheme as of now.
Buyers with prepaid plans will get 1.4GB data per day for the next year. The plan also includes unlimited voice calls (roaming included) and 100 SMSes per day. By opting for the EMI scheme, prepaid customers can purchase the Oppo F9 Pro, Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7 Plus with a initial down payment of Rs 6,015, Rs 4,599 and Rs 7,699 respectively. For the next 12 months, users will have to pay a monthly EMIs of Rs 1,714 on Oppo F9 Pro. The monthly EMI amount for the Nokia 6.1 is Rs 1,275 while that of the Nokia 7 Plus is Rs 1,734.
It’s worth noting that the EMI amount also covers the cost of data, voice calling and SMS benefits for the year. For example, the Oppo F9 Pro costs Rs 23,990 on online and offline channels. The same smartphone on Airtel store retails at Rs 26,583. The final amount of Nokia 7 Plus after 12 months is Rs 28,507 when purchased from Airtel store as compared to its standard market price of Rs 25,999.
However the differences in price is not very noticeable, considering the cost of data plans (if you spend on this every month) will be bundled in the cost of phone.
