Airtel Xstream Stick and Xstream Box launched in India: here’s everything you need to know

Bharti Airtel is foraying into the digital entertainment industry with a new converged digital entertainment platform called Airtel Xstream. The brand has launched two new devices – the Airtel Xstream Stick and the Airtel Xstream Box. Additionally, Airtel TV has been rebranded to Airtel Xstream, and now comes with a new user interface and improved recommendation algorithm.

Airtel Xstream Stick and Xstream Box: price and availability

The Airtel Xstream Stick is available on Flipkart as well as Airtel retail stores, Airtel.in, Croma and Vijay Sales. The Xstream Box, on the other hand, will be made available on Amazon India apart from the stores mentioned for the Xstream Stick.

As for the pricing, both Xstream Stick and Box will set you back by Rs 3,999. Those who opt for the Stick will get a free 30-day trial period and will have to subscribe to an annual plan worth Rs 999 thereafter. The company is offering free access to the content subscription plan on Airtel Xstream Stick for its Airtel Thanks Platinum and Gold customers.

Airtel Xstream Box provides over 500 TV channels and OTT content as well

Those who opt for the Airtel Xstream Box will get a complimentary one year subscription worth Rs 999 as well as a HD DTH pack for one month. Additionally, existing Airtel Digital TV customers can shell out Rs 2,249 and upgrade to the Airtel Xstream box.

Airtel Xstream Stick and Xstream Box: specifications and features

The Airtel Xstream Stick an Android 8.0 based OTT stick that brings a plug and play experience to any TV screen. The device features built-in Chromecast and is powered by a 1.6GHz processor. For connectivity, you get Bluetooth 4.2 and a remote control with dedicated buttons for Google Assistant and Netflix. Coming to the content, users will have access to Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ZEE5, Hooq, Hoi Choi, Eros Now, HungamaPlay, ShemarooMe, Ultra and Curiosity Stream. Google Play Store access is also provided so that users can download other apps of their choice. Airtel has announced that over 10,000 movies and shows will be made available to users. Additionally, users will get access to more than 6 million songs from Wynk Music’s library.

As for the Xstream Box, it is an Android 9.0-based 4K Hybrid Box designed to bring together satellite TV and OTT content. Users will get the option to choose from over 500 TV channels as well as online content through pre-installed Airtel Xstream, Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, YouTube and Airtel Store apps. The Xstream Box flaunts Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and built-in Chromecast. You also get a universal remote with Google Assistant based voice search, and hot keys for Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube.
