Xiaomi backed Huami was supposed to launch the Amazfit GTR 2 in India on December 17th. However, the brand has gone ahead and announced the pricing and availability of the smartwatch. It is also listed on shopping portal Flipkart with a ‘coming soon’ tag.
To recall, Huami had launched the Amazfit GTR 2 in China in September this year. It is the successor to last year’s GTR. The Amazfit GTS 2 and GTS 2 Mini are also expected to launch later this month.
Amazfit GTR 2 specifications and features
The Amazfit GTR 2 is thinner than its predecessor. It features a circular bezel-less AMOLED display measuring 1.39-inches. There is an always-on display mode as well. The smartwatch is offered in two variants i.e. Sport edition with Aluminium alloy and Classic edition with a stainless steel body. There are two buttons on the right side and the wearable device carries a 5ATM water-resistant rating.
Coming to health-centric features, the Amazfit GTR 2 is equipped with a 24-hour heart rate monitor and a second-generation PPG BioTracker. It also offers a SpO2 sensor for monitoring blood oxygen levels during physical activity and high-intensity sports. There’s a PAI health system that compiles various health-related data for understanding the user’s physical state. The wearable device also comes with a sleep tracker and stress monitor. It supports 12 built-in indoor and outdoor sports modes.
The Amazfit GTR 2 packs 3GB onboard storage that lets users store music locally and play it via Bluetooth without requiring a smartphone. The device features a built-in microphone letting users answer incoming calls by connecting it to a smartphone via Bluetooth. The smartwatch also comes with an Alexa voice assistant that lets users perform various tasks by giving voice commands. There’s also an offline voice assistant that can be accessed without an internet connection for performing tasks like turning on sports modes or opening heart rate monitor.
The Amazfit GTR 2 can be locked with a password preventing it from being accessed by others, and the wear detection ability automatically locks the smartwatch when it is removed by the user. The smartwatch displays notifications like social media updates, messages, events, sedentary reminder, weather updates etc.
The Amazfit GTR 2 is backed by a 471mAh battery unit that offers a 14-day battery life under typical usage and 38 days in basic mode. The smartwatch offers Bluetooth 5.0 connectivity and is compatible with Zepp app on devices running on Android 5.0 and iOS 10.0 or above.
Amazfit GTR 2 price in India
The Amazfit GTR 2 carries a price tag of Rs 12,999 for the Sports Edition while the Classic Edition costs Rs 13,499. Both variants come in Obsidian Black colour. The smartwatch is up for pre-orders starting today till December 17th. Users who make reservations during the time period will get an additional replaceable strap for free.
