Xiaomi-backed Huami has launched three smartwatches in China today. The range includes the Amazfit GTS, Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3 and a concept smartwatch called the Amazfit X. Let’s take a detailed look at each device below:
The Amazfit GTS closely resembles the Apple Watch Series in terms of design. The device sports a retina-grade AMOLED display measuring 1.65-inches. The display features 341ppi pixel density, 100 percent NTSC colour gamut and super high colour saturation. The touchscreen is protected by third-generation Corning Gorilla tempered glass. Huami says that the square screen can accommodate more information. The smartwatch flaunts a light metal body and a custom modular dial. It is 9.4mm thick and weighs 24.8 grams. The Amazfit GTS can be availed in six different colour options.
The Amazfit GTS is waterproof up to 50 meters and can also track swimming activities like stroke, value, pace, and other related data. The smartwatch comes with built-in GPS+GLONASS and supports 12 sports modes for monitoring various activities. The Amazfit GTS is equipped with a BioTracker PPG sensor that performs 24-hour heart rate monitoring. It is also capable of detecting arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation and other potential heart problems. Additionally, the device also offers a sedentary reminder and sleep analysis for overall health.
The Amazfit GTS is powered by a 220mAh battery and is claimed to deliver up to 14 days of battery life in the daily use mode and 46 days in basic watch mode. With an active GPS feature, it is expected to last for 25 hours on a single charge. On the connectivity front, the smartwatch supports Bluetooth 5.0 and NFC connectivity for contactless payments. It is compatible with Android 5.0+ and iOS 10.0 or higher.
Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3:
Coming to the Amazfit Smart Sports Watch 3, the device is aimed at sports enthusiasts. It is available in standard and elite editions. Both the variants sport a metal unibody design. The former features a glass-reinforced polycarbonate displlay coupled with 316L stainless steel bezel. On the other hand, the elite version comes with a titanium bezel with a Mohs 9 sapphire crystal display for greater durability.
The Amazfit Sports Watch 3 features a circular display measuring 1.34-inches in a 48.6mm diameter. The standard edition weighs 59.6 grams while the elite version measures 68.7 grams. Both the smartwatches come with four physical buttons. They are waterproof up to 5 meters and the display is shielded by Corning Gorilla Glass.
Like the Amazfit GTS, this one too is equipped with a BioTracker PPG sensor. The Sports Watch 3 offers support for 19 sports modes ranging from daily to professional activities. It features the FIRSTBEAT algorithm that provides professional data on the user’s movement and helps them improve their exercise level. Other sensors on the smartwatch include an accelerometer, gyroscope, air pressure sensor and geomagnetic sensor.
Under the hood, the Amazfit Sports Watch 3 is equipped with a dual-core chipset paired with 512MB RAM and 4GB eMMC storage. Users can store songs and listen to music via a Bluetooth headset. The smartwatch runs on the Amazfit operating system which comes with two system modes, intelligent and ultra-mode (support ultra-low-power).
Connectivity-wise, the Sports Watch 3 supports four-star positioning namely GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo. It also comes with NFC, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. The Amazfit Sports Watch 3 is backed by a 300mAh battery unit. It offers a variety of modes for power consumption. Under the smart mode and ultra-smart mode, the device is capable of lasting up to 7 and 14 days respectively. Under continuous GPS usage, the Sports Watch 3 is claimed to last for up to 70 hours.
The Amazfit X looks like a futuristic device with a tagline ‘Bow to the Future’. It flaunts a full moon design and sports a flexible AMOLED curved screen measuring 2.07-inches. Huami says that it cost millions of dollars to develop Amazfit X. The display offers retina-grade HD resolution with a pixel density of 326ppi, 100 percent NTSC colour saturation and brightness up to 430 nits.
The Amazfit X is fully built of metal with a 3D curved body and hidden buttons. The device is backed by a 220mAh lithium battery that can last for 7 days. Huami didn’t reveal other specs and features of the device. However, the company said the Amazfit X will not debut before 2020.
Pricing & Availability:
The Amazfit GTS is priced at 899 Yuan (~Rs 9,000). The Amazfit Sports Watch 3 standard edition will cost 1,299 Yuan (~Rs 13,000) while the Elite edition carries a price tag of 1,699 Yuan (~Rs 17,000). For now, the latest smartwatches are available only in China. No details regarding Indian availability are known.
