Amazon Echo Flex plug-in smart speaker launched in India for Rs 2,999

Amazon has refreshed its Echo devices lineup with the launch of the Echo Flex in India. It is a plug-in smart speaker that saves on space by plugging directly into a standard electric outlet and allowing you to use Alexa even in the smallest spaces. The Echo Flex can be paired with devices such as smart lights and smart plugs from brands including Philips, SYSKA LED, Oakter, TP-Link and more without any wires and chargers. The plug also has a built-in USB-A port to charge a phone (7.5W) or other devices, all while using only one outlet.

Amazon Echo Flex specifications and features

The Amazon Echo Flex is touted as the most affordable way to voice control smart home devices. Just like the previous Echo devices, the Flex is also powered by Amazon’s AI voice assistant Alexa. The Echo Flex measures  72 x 67 x 52 mm and weighs 150g. It supports dual-band Wi-Fi and can connect to other speakers via Bluetooth or a 3.5mm aux cable.

The plug also has a built-in speaker for voice feedback and “multiple layers of privacy controls, including a microphone off button that electronically disconnects the microphone,” as per Amazon. Users can also view, hear, and delete voice recordings in the Alexa app, which is compatible with Android and iOS devices.

“We are happy to introduce Echo Flex for users in India to access Alexa more conveniently now from any room in the house. Our customers are looking for more options on where they can place Echo devices across their homes. We heard them. With its compact form, Echo Flex can be plugged in directly into an electrical socket to provide all functionalities of an Echo device,” said Parag Gupta Head of Amazon Devices.

The Amazon Echo Flex price in India is set at Rs 2,999. The device is up for pre-order on the e-commerce platform Amazon and select retailers starting today.
