Amazon Fire TV Stick will now let users search and stream Netflix shows

On: May 29, 2019

Amazon recently passed an update for screen mirroring on the Fire TV OS. Today, the company has integrated the Netflix catalogue into its search experience on Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick 4K. The feature will help users search and play Netflix shows through Amazon Alexa voice search with the remote.

Interestingly, Fire TV users who haven’t subscribed to Netflix would also see search results from the streaming app. By integrating Netflix, the e-commerce giant has made its media streaming stick even more useful. Amazon has also announced that Fire TV has completed two years in India and has sold over a million devices in the time period. Fire TV users stream their favourite content for more than two hours every day and the market share of the device in India is 72 percent, according to IDC.

Additionally, it has been speculated that the company is developing an ad-supported video news app for the Fire TV stick. The Alexa-driven service would be a direct competitor to the Roku Channel and would let consumers stream news via the streaming stick. However, since there’s no official info as of now, we’d advise you to take this with a pinch of salt.
