Amazon Kindle Paperwhite, Signature Edition with wireless charging launched in India: price, specifications

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition have been launched in India. The former is the latest generation product with upgrades over its predecessor. On the other hand, the Signature Edition is a premium e-reader which offers features unseen even on the top-of-the-line Oasis.

The Amazon Kindle is a popular e-book reading device. Commenting on the launch, Amazon India Head, Parag Gupta said in a statement “We have a brighter display, enhanced battery performance, and a compact waterproof design in Kindle Paperwhite Next Generation launched today.”

The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite comes with new features and specifications

The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature Edition come with a 6.8-inch screen surrounded by thin bezels. The display offers 300 ppi pixel density, laser-quality text, and a glare-free viewing experience. Furthermore, the display also comes with additional 10 percent brightness ensuring eye comfort while reading. There is also adjustable warm light and a white-on-black dark mode for reading at any time. 

The Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition features an auto-adjusting front light that automatically adjusts the display brightness based on the surrounding lightning. 

The Kindle Paperwhite variants are IPX8 certified waterproof. They also come with redesigned Kindle interface with new features. They offer an easy way to switch between the home screen, library, and current book. Both devices can now display the cover of the currently reading book on the lockscreen. The Whispersync feature saves and synchronizes the user’s last page read, annotations and bookmarks across all Kindle devices and apps. T

On the hardware front, the Kindle Paperwhite packs 8GB storage while the Signature Edition maxes out at 32GB. Both devices are capable of delivering up to 10 weeks of usage on a single charge with support for 10W fast charging via a USB-C port. The Signature Edition also supports wireless charging and is compatible with Qi-certified wireless chargers. 

The Kindle Paperwhite comes in Wi-Fi only version whereas the Signature Edition features Wi-Fi as well as 4G connectivity.

The latest generation Kindle Paperwhite costs Rs 13,999 while the new Signature Edition version carries a price tag of Rs 17,999. The devices are offered in Black colour and available for purchase from today on Amazon. Buyers will get Kindle credits worth Rs 500 that can be used towards eBook purchases.
