Amazon Music Now Available In India: Ad-free Music with Added Benefits

Amazon has finally launched its music streaming service for the Indian audience. The e-commerce giant has constantly been pushing towards providing high-quality content for its users, apart from its primary business which is e-commerce. It started off its Prime Video service two years ago in India as a bundled offer if a user bought the Amazon Prime membership. Earlier this year, the brand went to increase its annual price of the package from Rs. 499 to Rs. 999 as it was looking to introduce Amazon Music. The service was available to Amazon Echo devices but it didn’t come to ordinary users without an Echo smart speaker, until now.

The application is available for both Android as well as iPhone users. If you are on a Windows Phone, it’s about time you made the shift to either of the aforementioned operating systems ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Jokes apart, if you wish to listen to music from the service while at work, you can do so from a web browser or it is available as a MacOS app as well. The Android app does have a few bugs here and there but they should be ironed out in the upcoming updates.

On starting the app, similar to other streaming applications like Wynk, Saavn, Gaana and others, Amazon Music will also ask which languages’ music you prefer. It’s nice to see that the service has compiled a list of music from all the major regional languages in India, including Hindi, Tamil, Punjabi, Bengali, Kannada, Telugu and others.

The service is similar to what Jio has to offer. Jio music is also bundled with the tariff plan you select, giving you not just the advantage of ad-free music, but also the mobile plan you use. Similarly, Amazon Music is bundled with your Prime membership, so you get the advantage of free One-day deliveries, exclusive deals and Prime Video content. This complimentary offer scores some brownie points over other streaming services in the market like Saavn, Gaana and Wynk which require you to pay a price for an ad-free streaming service.

If you are a Prime member already, you can download it on Android, iOS and stream on web.. Full disclosure: The apps do feel streamlined but there are a few bugs that might cause some annoyance but they should be eliminated soon. Do let us know what your experience was like.
