Apple discontinues 15-inch MacBook Pro with arrival of 16-inch model

Recently Apple unveiled a new 16-inch MacBook Pro laptop. Now soon after the launch, the Cupertino based brand has discontinued the 15-inch MacBook Pro. The model is no longer listed on Apple India and Apple US website which suggests that it is no longer selling. Apple probably discontinued the 15-inch MacBook Pro since the latest 16-inch model carries the same price tag. The former was refreshed with upgraded specs earlier in May this year. Apple had also voluntarily recalled the older generation 15-inch MacBook Pro units over battery overheating risks. The 12-inch MacBook Pro had also made an exit from Apple’s portfolio earlier this year. 

Apple 16-inch MacBook Pro specifications and features

The latest 16-inch MacBook Pro comes with upgraded specs and features offering better value for money compared to the 15-inch model. The laptop comes with an all-new Magic keyboard with an older scissor mechanism instead of the controversial butterfly mechanism. Apple claims that the new 16-inch MacBook Pro delivers the best typing experience ever in a Mac notebook. The laptop features a Touch Bar, Touch ID sensor, Force Touch trackpad, and the Apple T2 Security Chip. 

The latest model sports a 16-inch Retina display with a higher 3,072 x 1,920 pixels resolution. On the hardware front, the laptop can be configured with up to 9th Gen Core i9 processor paired with up AMD Radeon Pro 550M graphics card with 8GB VRAM. The 16-inch MacBook Pro packs up to 64GB RAM and up to 8TB storage. The laptop is powered by a 100Wh battery unit and Apple claims that it offers up to 11 hours of web browsing or video playback on Apple TV. 

Apple’s notebook portfolio now consists of a 13-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, and a MacBook Air. The latest 16-inch MacBook Pro carries a price tag of Rs 1,99,900 and will be available for purchase through Apple authorised resellers across the country. The 13-inch MacBook Pro currently retails at Rs 1,19,900.
