Apple refreshes 27-inch iMac with 10th-generation Intel processors: price, specifications

In March last year, Apple updated its iMac lineup with AMD Vega graphics and up to 9th gen Intel processors. The Cupertino based brand has now updated its 27-inch iMac. Apple has also announced minor updates to the 21.5-inch iMac and iMac Pro.

“With blazing performance, double the memory, SSDs across the line with quadruple the storage, an even more stunning Retina 5K display, a better camera, higher fidelity speakers, and studio-quality mics, the 27-inch iMac is loaded with new features at the same price. It’s the ultimate desktop, to work, create, and communicate” Tom Boger, Apple’s senior director of Mac said in a statement. 

27-inch iMac specifications and features

The 27-inch iMac packs major upgrades compared to its previous model.

The 27-inch iMac with 5K Retina display now features True Tone technology that automatically adjusts the colour temperature to the user’s surroundings. The latest offering comes with an optional nano-texture glass that was first introduced on Pro Display XDR. It is claimed to reduce the reflections and glares on the screen. The new 27-inch iMac now features a 1080p FaceTime webcam along with higher fidelity speakers and an improved set of studio-quality microphone array.

Under the hood, the 27-inch iMac houses up to 10-core 10th generation Intel processors with Turbo Boost speeds reaching 5.0GHz. The chipset is paired with AMD Radeon Pro 5000 series graphics with up to 16GB GDDR6 memory. It is said to deliver up to 55 percent faster graphics performance.

In terms of storage, the refreshed iMac offers up to 8TB SSD options. The 27-inch iMac also packs up to 128GB DDR4 RAM onboard. The latest offering features Apple’s T2 security chip claimed to keep files and data stored on the SSD safe and secure.  

21.5-inch iMac and iMac Pro 

The 21.5-inch iMac now features a flash-based SSD storage making it the standard across Apple’s lineup. Customers also get the option to choose the 21.5-inch iMac with Fusion Drive (SSHD). As for the iMac Pro, the device will now come with 10-core Intel Xeon processor. 

27-inch iMac, 21.5-inch iMac and iMac Pro price in India

The new 27-inch iMac carries a starting price tag of Rs 1,69,990. The 21.5-inch iMac costs Rs 99,900 while the iMac Pro will retail at Rs 4,64,900. All three models will be available for purchase via Apple Authorised Resellers in India later this month.
