- Apple iPad Pro 2022 has debuted in India

Apple iPad Pro 2022 has been launched in India. It has arrived as the successor to last year’s iPad Pro, which has been Apple’s most powerful tablet. The iPad Pro 2021 debuted as the company’s first-ever tablet powered by the in-house M1 chipset. Since it has a more recent M2 chip, the iPad Pro 2022 works faster than its predecessor.
It is the same chip that powers the likes of the 2022 MacBook Air and the 13-inch MacBook Pro. The M2 chip features an 8-core CPU, a 10-core GPU, a 16-core Neural Engine for machine learning, and 100GB/s memory bandwidth. Apart from launching the iPad Pro 2022, the company also launched the 10th generation iPad and the new Apple TV 4K.
iPad Pro 2022 specifications and features
The iPad Pro 2022 comes in 11-inch Liquid Retina and 12.9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display sizes. The former features an LED-backlit display with IPS technology, while the latter features a mini-LED backlit screen with IPS technology and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Apple Pencil 2nd generation is supported by the device.
Under the hood, the iPad Pro 2022 features the Apple M2 chip. The 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB editions of the device feature 8GB of RAM. The 1TB and 2TB storage variants have 16GB of RAM. The new hover feature can detect the 2nd generation Apple Pencil up to 12mm above the screen. The tablet runs on iPad OS 16.
The rear camera system of the iPad Pro 2022 features a 12-megapixel main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens with a 125-degree FOV. The rear cameras offer features like a sapphire crystal lens cover, 2x optical zoom, autofocus, Smart HDR 4, and up to 60fps 4K video recording. It also allows users to record in Apple’s ProRes codec and transcode it up to 2x faster.
On the front, the iPad Pro 2022 has a 12-megapixel ultra-wide TrueDepth camera with a 122-degree FOV. It offers photography features like portrait mode with advanced bokeh, portrait lighting, Smart HDR 4, time-lapse video with stabilisation, Centre Stage, and 60fps Full HD video shooting.
The iPad Pro 2022 offers other features like quad speakers, a LiDAR scanner, Face ID, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, 5G via nano-SIM and eSIM, a USB Type-C port, a digital compass, and iBeacon micro-location. The 11-inch model has a 28.65Whr battery, while the 12.9-inch edition gets a 40.88Whr battery. According to Apple, both models can last for up to 10 hours of surfing the web or watching videos on WiFi.
iPad Pro 2022 price in India, availability
The 11-inch iPad Pro 2022 comes in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB configurations. It starts at Rs 81,900 for the WiFi-only model, whereas the WiFi + cellular edition is priced at Rs 96,900.
The 12.9-inch iPad Pro 2022 also comes in the same storage options. Its WiFi-only edition is priced at Rs 1,12,900 and its WiFi + cellular edition is priced at Rs 1,27,900. Both devices come in Silver and Space Grey colours.
Customers can order the iPad Pro 2022 through Apple India’s website and Apple Store app starting from today (October 18th). It will be available in stores on October 26th, 2022.
