Apple iPhone 7, iPhone 7 Plus to be Launched in India on October 7

It’s been a few hours since the Cupertino giant Apple officially unveiled the much awaited new iPhones — iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus at a special event in San Francisco. Priced at $649 and $769 respectively, the new iPhones are set to be launched in India on October 7, along with the Apple Watch Series 2. Both the new iPhones are set to be up for pre-order starting tomorrow (September 9) in the United States. However, the sale will only begin on September 16.


As far as the Indian market is concerned, the price details are yet to be revealed officially by the company. According to a few media reports, the new iPhone devices will go on sale starting INR 60,000 in India. What it means is the base model of the new iPhone 7, which is 32GB variant will go on sale at the said price in the Indian market.

During the official launch event, this is what Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, had to say:

“iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus dramatically improve every aspect of the iPhone experience, reaching a new level of innovation and precision to make this the best iPhone we have ever made.”

He also added: “The completely redesigned cameras shoot incredible photos and videos day or night, the A10 Fusion chip is the most powerful chip on any smartphone while delivering the best battery life ever in an iPhone, and an entirely new stereo speaker system provides twice the sound, all within the first water and dust resistant iPhone.”

This time, however, Apple made changes a lot of places i.e. new camera system, audio experience, removal of a 3.5mm audio jack, and what not. Both the new iPhones have a 12-megapixel camera alongside optical image stabilization and f/1.8 aperture. The iPhone 7 Plus gets an additional 12-megapixel telephoto camera that is capable of 2x optical zoom and Digital Zoom up to 10x when it comes to photos.

The new iPhones also packs new stereo speakers which according to the company offer “amazing and immersive sound that is two times louder than iPhone 6s.” They also introduced the EarPods with a lightning connector in addition to a lightning to 3.5 mm headphone jack adapter.
