Apple to reportedly launch iPhone SE 2 (iPhone 9) on March 31st

Several reports in the past have indicated that Apple is planning to launch a new low-cost iPhone called the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 in the near future. The rumour mill has suggested that the device could be unveiled at some point in March. Now, a report by iPhone-ticker.de suggests that the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 could be unveiled at an event on March 31st. Furthermore, the source has suggested that the budget iPhone will start selling in major markets starting from April 3rd. If the report is true, the new affordable iPhone will be launched three years after the launch of the iPhone SE to the date.

A few weeks ago, some renders of the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 were leaked on the interwebs. The leaked images suggested that the phone will be featuring a design similar to the iPhone 8. The device will have thick bezels on top and bottom, and the bottom bezel of the handset will be equipped with the Touch ID sensor. At the rear, the budget iPhone will have a frosted glass finish and a single primary camera. Furthermore, the leaked images suggested that the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 will feature a Lightning port for charging.

According to earlier reports, the iPhone SE 2 or iPhone 9 will offer the Apple A13 Bionic processor. The phone will be equipped with 3GB of RAM, and come in 64GB and 128GB storage models. On the front, the device will offer a 4.7-inch Retina display. The smartphone is also said to support wireless charging. Lastly, the rumour mill indicates that the low-cost iPhone will be offered at a starting price tag of $399 (~Rs 28,500). Since the rumoured launch is just a few weeks away, we expect more details about the budget iPhone to be revealed in the near future.
