Apple Mac Pro goes on sale in India, prices start at Rs 4,99,900

Apple had announced the Mac Pro alongside the Pro Display XDR at WWDC in June 2019. It arrived as the successor to the older Mac Pro that was launched several years ago. The aluminum-bodied tower has now been made available for purchase in India with a hefty starting price tag of Rs. 4,99,900. It comes in as many as five CPU versions. The top-end model is powered by an Intel Xeon W 28-core processor, AMD Radeon Pro Veg II Duo graphics, 1.5TB of RAM and more.

The Apple Mac Pro can be configured with up to 1.5TB of memory and up to 8TB of SSD storage

The Mac Pro featurs a tower design equipped with a knob that can be used to unlatch it from all four sides. There is a handle on the top for conveniently lifting it. The rack measures 52.9 x 45 x 21cm and weighs 18kg.

The Mac Pro can be bought in 8-core, 12-core, 16-cre, 24-core and 28-core versions with the Intel Xeon W processor. In the memory department, the Mac Pro features 12 DIMM slots. These slots can support 32GB, 48GB, 96GB, 192GB, 384GB, 768GB and 1.5TB of LPDDR4 EEC RAM.

When it comes to storage, the Mac Pro offers option such as 256GB, 1TB, 2TB, 4TB and 8TB of SSD storage. The base model of the Mac Pro coms with the AMD Radeon Pro 580X. Other variants have the AMD Radeon Pro W5700X and Radeon Pro Vega II. The highest model features Radeon Pro Vega II Duo. There is Afterburner Kit by Apple on the Mac Pro to accelerate video encoding and decoding. It is a programmable ASIC that can handle up to 3/12/16 streams of 8K/4K ProRes RAW at 30fps.

The connectivity ports available on the Apple Mac Pro include Apple Afterburner ProRes and ProRes RAW accelerator PCI Express x16 card, eight PCI express expansion slots, two USB 3 ports, two Thunderbolt 3 ports, a 3.5mm audio jack, and two 10GB Ethernet ports. There are two Thunderbolt 3 ports on top of the tower, and another pair of Thunderbolt 3 ports on the front of the rack enclosure. It comes with support for Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth 5.0. The highest configuration variant of the Mac Pro carries a 1,400W power supply.
