The Apple Mac Studio with M1 Ultra and Studio Display have been launched through the company’s “Peek Performance” event. These devices were announced alongside the iPhone SE (2022) and the iPad Air 5.

The Studio Display offers a 27-inch screen that supports 5K resolution and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera. It can be paired with the Mac Studio for the ultimate studio setup experience. Apple also introduced the M1 Ultra chip at the event and claimed that it is the world’s most powerful chip for a personal computer. According to Apple, the Mac Studio flaunts an innovative thermal design. The aluminium-bodied device is equipped with double-side blowers and over 4,000 performances on the back for heat dissipation. The fans placed on the top of the Mac Studio can draw cool air from vents placed at the bottom. The company claims that the Mac Studio functions silently even under the heaviest workloads.

Apart from the M1 Ultra variant, the Mac Studio also comes in the M1 Max chip model. While the M1 Max includes a 10-core CPU, a 24-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine, the M1 Ultra has a 20-core CPU, 48-core GPU, and a 32-core Neural Engine.

According to Apple, the M1 Ultra can provide 90 percent faster CPU performance than the Mac Pro with a 16-core Xeon processor and up to 3.8x faster CPU performance than the 27-inch Mac with a 10-core processor. In terms of graphics performance, it is up to 4.5x faster than the 27-inch Mac and up to 80 percent faster than the fastest Mac graphics card available today. According to the company, the Mac Studio with M1 ultra can run 18 streams of 8K ProRes 422 video simultaneously, which no other PC in the world can do.

The Mac Studio features up to 128GB of unified memory and up to 8TB of SSD storage. The connectivity options available on the backside of the Mac Studio include 4 x Thunderbolt 4 ports, 2 x USB Type-A ports, an HDMI port, a 10Gb Ethernet port, and an audio jack with support for high-impedance headphones or amplified speakers. It also carries support for Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. At the front, it features 2 x USB Type-C ports on the M1 Max model or a Thunderbolt 4 port on the M1 Ultra. In addition, the front side of the Mac Studio has an SD card slot. The Cupertino-based company claims that the Mac Studio is powerful enough to support up to four Pro Display XDRs along with a 4K TV.

The Studio Display has an aluminium build with narrow bezels. It is equipped with a built-in stand that can tilt the screen up to 30 degrees. It also comes with support for a VESA mount adapter. It features a 27-inch Retina screen that produces a 5K resolution with over 14.7 million colours, 600 nits of brightness, a P3 colour gamut, true-tone technology, and an anti-reflective coating.

The Studio Display is powered by the Apple A13 Bionic chip. It is fitted with a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera with Centre Stage support. For an enhanced video calling experience, it is equipped with a three-microphone array setup. Furthermore, it features a high-fidelity six-speaker system with Dolby Atmos. When it comes to connectivity, the Studio Display offers 3 x USB Type-C ports and a Thunderbolt port.

Apple has introduced a new silver-and-black colour edition of the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID, Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse to complement the design of the Mac Studio. These accessories can be purchased separately.

The Mac Studio starts at Rs 1,89,900 and the education pricing begins at Rs 1,70,910. On the other hand, the Studio Display starts at Rs 1,15,900 and its education pricing starts at Rs 1,43,910. The Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Magic Trackpad are priced at Rs 14,500 and Rs 9,500.
